What Is A Speakers Bureau? And Why Should You Be Using One?

Speakers bureaus are almost like dating services for businesses. Technically, you can find out about potential speakers directly from the source by inquiring with other businesses or individuals directly. But finding the right person at the right time and vetting them takes up a lot of time and resources.

That’s where speakers bureaus come in! They act as an intermediary between organizations that need speakers and speakers who are looking to share their expertise with the world.

So if you’re ready to take your business to the next level and make some real connections, keep reading to learn more about what a speakers bureau is, why you should use one, and how they can help you build your company!

What Is A Speakers Bureau?

A speakers bureau is an organization that connects speakers with organizations in need of keynote speakers, panel speakers, etc. A bureau usually has a large database of potential speakers that can be filtered and searched by type of event, location, cost, expertise, and more.

This means you can get matching, quality speakers for your event in a fraction of the time it would take you to source them yourself. In short, a speakers bureau is a service that connects event organizers with speakers who are available to speak at their events.

Why Should You Be Using One?

Finding the right speaker for your event can be a real challenge!

Not only do you want to make sure you find people with the right experience, knowledge, and style, but you also want to make sure they’re a good fit on a personal level. Finding a speaker who is the right mix of all three is no easy feat! And it’s even more difficult if you don’t know where to look.

A speakers bureau can help you find a speaker who is the best fit for your event. They can filter through their database of speakers to find you the perfect match based on your needs. If you decide you want to work with a speakers bureau, make sure you vet them before signing any contracts! Make sure they have the experience and history to prove they’re the best choice.

Narrow down your list of potential bureaus and then start contacting them to see if they’d be a good fit for your event. Make sure you’re communicating with a real person, not just an automated email.

How To Find And Vet Speakers Through A B bureau

If you want to use a speakers bureau and you’ve narrowed down your choices, you’ll need to reach out to the bureaus and let them know why you’re contacting them. Let them know the type of event you’re hosting, the type of speaker you’re looking for, and what kind of budget you’re working with. Some bureaus will also ask you to fill out a form with similar information.

The more detail you can give them, the more effective their search will be. If you have specific dates for your event, let the social media speakers bureau know so they can filter accordingly. With your list of bureaus narrowed down, you’ll need to vet them to make sure they’re a good fit for you. This means getting as much information about them as possible so you can make an educated decision about which one to work with.

You’ll want to know about their services, their process, and the kinds of clients they work with the most. You’ll need to know about the reputation of the bureaus and the quality of their speakers.

How To Find The Right Speaker For Your Event

As we’ve already discussed, it’s important to find a speaker who is a good fit for your event. But how do you know if you’ve found the right speaker? Here are a few things to keep in mind as you make your decision.

  • – Try To Avoid The Impersonal – While you don’t want to go with a speaker you’ve had a personal relationship with, you also don’t want to go with someone who you don’t feel has the experience to really make your event a success. Make sure you find the happy medium between the two.
  • – Look At Their Speaking History – Make sure you do your research on the speakers you’re considering for your event. Find out where they’ve spoken before and what their overall track record for success is like.
  • – Find Out Their Strengths And Weaknesses – When speaking with the potential speakers you’re considering for your event, try to get a feel for what their strengths and weaknesses are as speakers. This way, you can decide if their style is a good fit for your event.
  • – Consider The Logistics
  • – Make sure you understand how easy or difficult it would be to work with the speakers you’re considering. If you’re going to be working on a tight schedule, you’ll want to make sure you find someone who is easy to work with.

Conclusion

Finding the right speaker can take a lot of time and effort, which is why many event organizers choose to work with a speakers bureau. A speakers bureau can help you find the best keynote speakers, panel speakers, and more, in a fraction of the time it would take you to search for them yourself.

If you want to use a speakers bureau, make sure you do your research to find out which ones are a good fit for you and for your event. Once you’ve chosen a speakers bureau, you can let them know what types of speakers you’re looking for and let them do the rest of the searching for you.

Finding the right speaker or speakers for your event can be a challenge, but it’s worth it when you see how it can benefit your event and your organization as a whole!
